Operation and design: A vertical shaft is turned by a motor which is attached to the base. A plastic or bowl is attached to the shaft. The cutting blades are attached to the shaft which operates near the bottom of the bowl while slicing and shredding disks are attached near the top of the bowl. Then the lid with a feed tube is fitted on the bowl which facilitates ingredients to be added while chopping, grinding. To protect the fingers a pusher is provided. Nowadays most food processors have devices which do not allow the motor to operate if the bowl is not properly placed or the lid is not attached to the bowl.
